Job Overview:

Directs and manages activities of production, planning, shipping and quality functions in processing and/or assembling components for the Conventional Disc Springs business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Manages personnel responsible for Production, Quality, and Shipping of components for aftermarket customers
  • Drives continuous improvement through implementation of the MOS principles and best practices
  • Maintains responsibility for Operational Excellence in assigned area ensuring Supply Chain meets or exceeds operational related KPIs on a shift, daily and monthly basis
  • Manages/participates in audits and subsequent corrections to validate the Quality System
  • Resolves quality issues and acts as first contact person for customers while continuously improving the customer relationship
  • Manages Quality KPIs measures to achieve plant, region, and global goals and objectives
  • Tracks and compiles employee time off, accident incidents, time keeping, and unplanned absenteeism for management review
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and the prevention of operational delays
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to General Manager and Human Resources for action
  • Develops budgets and approves expenditures for supplies, materials, and human capital
  • Implements and maintains global standards, processes and policies
  • Manages/participates in audits and subsequent corrections to validate the Quality System
  • Resolves quality issues and acts as first contact person for customers while continuously improving the customer relationship
  • Tracks and compiles employee time off, accident incidents, time keeping, and unplanned absenteeism for management review
  • Performs other duties as required or requested by management

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of manufacturing and quality experience; or eight years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with IATF 16949 based quality management system.
  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous exposure to plant operating systems.
  • Training in 5S, Lockout/Tag Out procedures, basic plant safety, and general machine operations.
  • Based on competence and need, training or knowledge in Hazardous Waste, ISO 14001 Awareness, ISO 14001 Internal Auditing, ISO 14001 & Beyond, ISO 14001 Top Management, HazWaste/Operator Program Training, HazWaste Manifest and Core Program Training, HazWaste/Crisis Management Training.
  • Must be familiar with policy applications in Quality, Materials, Health, Environmental, and Safety.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree
  • General knowledge of XPPS
  • SAP experience
  • Experience in automotive parts manufacturing and /or engineering and sales driven businesses
  • Experience working in a Germany based (international) organization

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
